What is Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art focused on grappling and ground techniques. Unlike other martial arts that depend on speed and strength, BJJ emphasizes leverage and precise technique to achieve dominant positions. From there, practitioners can apply strikes or submission holds, like chokes and joint locks, when needed. Often referred to as the “Gentle Martial Art”, Jiu Jitsu is well renowned for being the martial art accessible to everyone!

Yes, Jiu-Jitsu teaches that a smaller, weaker person can effectively defend against a larger, stronger opponent. This is why its n incredible sport for kids and adults!

What should I wear and what does GI/NO GI mean?
The Gi is a durable uniform made to withstand the intense grips and pulling common in training. It provides specific holds that help with throwing or controlling your opponent on the ground. NoGi, on the other hand, focuses on BJJ without the use of the Gi or grips. For NoGi, you can wear shorts, yoga pants, rash guards, or T-shirts (Gi pants are also acceptable).
